January/ February Daily Bible Verses- Week 5

Jan. 30-31-"But when the fulness of the itme was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth, the Spirit of his Son in your hearts, crying , Abba, Fahter. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son then an heir of God through Christ."-
Galatians 4:4-7

Feb.1-"Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee."- Isaiah 60:1

Feb. 2-"Then was the kind exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God."- Daniel 6:23

Feb.3- "I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised..."- 2 Samuel 22:4

Time Management

"For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night...The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away...So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.... And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our heands establish thou it."

Our mesage today comes from Psalm 90: 4-17 (I hit the high parts) with verse 12 being a key verse.

From the moment we are born, we are assigned a clock. And from the moment we are saved (by accepting Jesus into our hearts) we are given a simple task- to "Let your light so shine before me, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."- Matthew 5:16.

Each day we are given 86,000 seconds to do just that. Let's look at how we spend that time. How much of it do we truly dedicate to Jesus? It would take you 71 hours to read the Bible start to finish without interruption. Now, divide that into a more realistic time frame, say a year. It would only take 12 minutes of your day to read the Bible completely. How many of us waste 12 minutes of our day? What about 15? Read your Bible for 12 minutes and pray for an additional 3. It doesn't seem like a large amount of time, but how many us really give that much to the Lord? Instead we chose to watch tv, to read a magazine, to fix our hair, etc. Being a Christian is not about dedicating your day 24/7 to Jesus- it's about being a good steward and using the time you have left during your day or your week to glorify God, to witness, and/or to learn.

Luke 6:46-49- Jesus calls us on us to do what he asks of us. He wants to get inside of us and change who we are by geting us to do and think godly things. When you read your Bible, you'll find that you'll get more out of it than you put into it.

Think of how you spend your time - do you spend it wisely, on a rock- or waste it, on the sand-
Matt 16:24-27. God knows your hope and dreams- be wealthy, to be famous, etc. God also knows how much time is on your clock. While being wealthy or being famous maybe a great thing here on Earth, how much will it help you in heaven when it's your turn on the Judgement seat if you haven't first and continuously applied your life to Jesus' testimoney and witness. Truth is, it won't do you a bit of good, and will have been like building a house in the sand. Chose today to build your house on the rock.

The Judgement is not an event to be feared, it is a wonderful count down to presence of our God and should be treated as such. Spread the word today and share God with those around you so that they may join us in heaven in the presence of our Lord.

January Daily Bible Verses- Week 4

Jan. 23- "As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake."- Ezekial 1:28

Jan. 24- "But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out into the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have choosen to set my name there."- Nehemiah 1:9

Jan. 25- "Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."- Jeremiah 1:4-5

Jan. 26-  "Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him."- Luke 22:42-43

Jan. 27- "The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him."- Psalm 28:7

One Chance

"And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth."- John 11:43

In the coming days, we will experience a resurrection/ rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17) when Jesus shall come down from heaven and give a loud shout. In doing so, the dead that have been saved shall rise from their graves, and the living who have been saved will rise into the clouds and join them.

(I can hardly tell you how eagerly I am awaiting that day)

My question to you is, Are you prepared and ready for when the Lord comes and calls you home?

(Be honest!)

Just as Jesus called Lazarus forth, He is calling us to tell the world of Him; to give testimony/ to witness/ to share the gospel.

Following the rapture, there will come Judgement (2 Corinthians5:10), a time when all saved will stand before Jesus Christ and give an accounting for what we've done with our life. Unlike Lazarus, we only get one chance.

Lazarus was called back from the grave to give an opportunity for those around him to belive in Jesus Christ and to believe in His power and His glory. He was called back so that he would have a testimony.

Never doubt the power of words be they spoken, or written.

Today Jesus is using you, you are His Lazarus. It is through the sharing of your testimony that you glorify Jesus and His all mighty power. Your testimony is who you are, it is your faith, and your witness. And it may just be your testimony that saves a friend from the firey gates of Hell and puts them in the loving arms of Jesus where they belong.

So as you go out into the world this week, look for the opportunity to tell someone how great God is, to tell them how wonderful His Son Jesus Christ is. Don't let that one chance that you might have slip by.

January Daily Bible Verses- Week 3

I though this passage was so good, that I'd dedicate it to the whole week.

Jan.16-20- "But speak thou the things which  become sound doctorine: That the aged men be sober, brave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in docotrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity. Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you."- Titus 2:1-8 KJV

Give of Your Best to the Master

As I make my resolutions for the New Year, I am resolving to change what I've been giving to Christ.

If you're anything like this writer, then you're far from perfect; and there are PLENTY of things in our day to day life that can be improved upon.

Among that long, long list of things I'd like to change is the way I serve God. From ministering/witnessing, to the way I worship, to the amount of tithe I give, there are plenty of ways I can become a better Christian and so can you.

It doesn't have to be a big thing, in fact, it can be a lot of little things.

Forget to say your prayers?

There's nothing written in stone that says they have to be said at the end of the day when you're dog tired. You can say them when you're in the shower, or inhaling that first delicious scent of morning coffee. And I don't think I'm overstepping my bounds when I say, I don't think God would mind you dropping him a line on the way to get the mail, or when you're stuck in afternoon traffic. I'm pretty sure He's available 24/7.

Know someone who's going through a tough time? ie. home bound, sick relative, down on their luck

A quick phone call, visit, or a smile in passing can do alot to lift a person's spirit. Invite them to church, call and let them know you're praying for them, or take them a meal.

Don't read you're Bible as much as your supposed to?

You're not alone. Infact, that's a major reason I'm starting this blog. I do better with encouragment. By knowing you're counting on me to write a post here, I'll be more likely to pick up my Bible, read a few verses, and hopefully write something that comes out making sense. So, find a few friends on Facebook, Twitter, or whichever social site you prefer and start a game of Bible Tag. Send a verse to your friends, have them send a verse back, and so on.

Want to portray yourself as a better Christian?

Who doesn't? It can be as simple as skipping the gossip, or refraining from making a questionable joke. Like Newton said, or at least I think it was Newton- could have been Einstein- Every action has a equal and opposite reaction. Make sure your actions have a positive reaction. The way we portray ourselves outside of church is the strongest witness we have. As a Christian everybody is watching us, waiting for us to mess up. And mess up we will, it's inevitable. Because even though we believe in Jesus Christ and are washed in his cleansing blood, we're still human and humans after all are sinners by birth (Psalm 51:5).

If you give it some thought, there are plenty of things we as Christians can do to improve ourselves In this new year, resolve today and everyday, to give your bes to the Master. After all, God gave us his best- his only begotten son (John 3:16)- isn't it time we started doing the same for him?
